I wish to discuss the concept of awareness.
During meditation, many individuals are often confused and even constrained by the term ‘awareness.’
It is important to accept this reality because awareness is not an easy feat.
The Buddha once said that sentient beings who become aware may achieve enlightenment.
One morning, while taking the subway, a sandwich fell onto the ground.
Arriving at the office with a ravenous appetite.
Starting to handle 243 unread emails from the previous day.
And still remembering to prepare for the weekend camping trip with the children.
In such a situation, it is difficult to naturally observe every strand of thought in one’s mind.
This is why the practice of spiritual discipline is so crucial.
Only through extensive practice can we gradually calm our minds in the midst of our frantic daily lives, like the tranquil surface of a pond.
The Russo-Ukrainian War.
Inflation.
Next week’s performance evaluation.
Disheartening relationships.
A million things in the world can excite one’s emotions.
But spiritual practice is the only way to find peace and tranquility within oneself.
